Provincial Assessments Information

The BC Graduation Program requires all students to write the following Graduation Assessments as part of their graduation requirements.  This year at Windsor, the following exams are scheduled:

Grade 12 Graduation Literacy Assessment (November 2026)

Grade 10 Graduation Literacy Assessment (January 2027)

Grade 10 Graduation Numeracy Assessment (April 2027)

Make-up session for all Assessments (June 2027)

  • All students who have not yet written an assessment will be automatically enrolled

The purpose of these assessments is to measure the extent to which students are literate and numerate and to provide students with information about their proficiency. Overall, the provincial graduation assessments require students to apply their numeracy and literacy skills in realistic contexts. Rather than assess specific course curricula, the graduation assessments measure the application of numeracy and literacy skills to realistic situations. The graduation assessments look at students’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills and to analyze, reason, and communicate effectively as they examine, interpret, and solve problems. Graduation assessments also emphasize the importance of the context in which students should be able to use their skills (e.g., home, employment, society). (BC Ministry of Education)

  • The Numeracy Assessment is cross-curricular and not connected to a specific course
  • Students are expected to take the Grade 10 Graduation Numeracy Assessment in their Grade 10 year
  • Assessment dates are set by the Ministry and are non-negotiable
  • Students who missed a session will be automatically enrolled in the next one
  • All students will have 2 hours to write the assessment with an additional hour if needed
  • Assessments are scored on a proficiency scale
  • The student’s best outcome for each of the Provincial Graduation Assessments will be recorded on their BC Ministry of Education Transcript
  • Students may request to re-write an assessment by informing the Vice-Principal
